The median age of the first time homebuyer was 38 last year. This is a sharp increase from age 29 in 1981.
This isn’t the only milestone that most adults used to achieve by age 30 that’s no longer common.
People like to blame individual decisions by millennials but the reality is that there are structural challenges they face today that their parents didn’t face in the 1980s.
